Hello there!
I'm Rebecca, a self-taught surface pattern designer and illustrator with an unyielding passion for color and creativity. Growing up in a dusty gold rush town nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in Northern California, I was surrounded by inspiration from an early age. One of my dearest friends had a family-owned stationery store, and together, we would walk from school to our parents' businesses, my father being a goldsmith with his own storefront. While my dad's shop intrigued me, it was my friend's stationery store that truly captured my heart.
I vividly recall the ambiance of the shop—the weathered wood floors, the mesmerizing marker displays, the abundance of paper—and the joy of creating captivating seasonal window displays. It was in that sweet, little shop that my love for paper took root and really never let go.
My stationery obsession grew during our honeymoon in Japan. The vibrant art supplies, particularly the mesmerizing washi tape, left a mark. With newfound inspiration and determination, I returned to Hawai'i, my home at the time, and embarked on a mission to create washi tape with my own unique art.
From that pivotal moment, my art career as a surface pattern designer took a new trajectory. Today, my designs grace the shelves of stores all across the nation, including the very store owned by my cherished friend. With over 70 mesmerizing washi tape designs and a wide range of over 170 SKUs, my wholesale line can now be found in over 300 stores across the country, making a colorful impact in the lives of many.
I'm thrilled to share that my artistic goals have also led me to collaborate with renowned companies such as Once Again Home, Phoebe Fabrics, Geometry House, and Jiggy Puzzles. Licensing my artwork has allowed me to reach new audiences and share my artwok in ways I never imagined as that little girl walking to her dad's shop back in Northern California.
After 10 years of product creation, a ton of questions sent to my Inbox, I have created a course called Manufacture: Awesome. In this program, I empower and teach other aspiring artists how to source and manufacture their own products domestically and abroad.
With a mission to take the fear out of manufacturing, one product at a time, I share my knowledge and experience to help fellow creatives turn their ideas into reality. Teaching seriously lights up my heart. Nothing beats the feeling of empowering other humans to create a business of their own with their own custom products.
At this point I see no limits, I find inspiration in my adventures, from traveling in foreign countries to playing outside, perpetually curious, much like my two amazing children. I now reside in the magical Columbia River Gorge, where I wait for summer to paddle my heart out.
As an artist knows no bounds, I have an intense feeling to keep creating. I love color, pattern and the joy of creating In a quiet pocket of time. I invite you to follow along, where the possibilities are as vast and vibrant as the colors that inspire me.
Welcome to my world of art and imagination—a world where creativity knows no limits and often clash with stripes and plaid.
